Strategic Thinking Training

Our Strategic Thinking Training programmes give you deliberate tools for managing and creating value from information.  The courses focus on developing your ability to create high quality questions which allow you to gather the best information upon which to make decisions.  Next, we focus on improving your ability to make sense of the underlying patterns or relationships, as well as being able to consider information in a range of ways.  These programmes are very practical and include loads of  activities to develop the skills - this is NOT theoretical!  Research has demonstrated that these behaviours are critical in developing a competitive edge.  Particularly valuable for leaders.

Overview

Business Think programmes are designed to skill organisations with staff who can independently think through the issues that can determine the success of the future of an organisation.  In our tailored programmes we can show you...

Outcomes

  1. How to strategically, systematically and with purpose gather information

  2. The importance of creating [& asking yourself] great questions.

  1. What the 3 underpinning strategic choices organisations need to consider.

  2. How to build a deeper understanding of situations.

  3. To recognise the importance of multiples: multiple sources gathering information], multiple perspectives [forming concepts], multiple solutions [thinking flexibly] and comprehensive analysis [thinking critically] when planning for the future.

  4. How to avoid the most common decision making mistake.

  5. How to become more knowledgeable about and skilled in using techniques to create new ideas and solutions.

  6. A range of simple, easy to implement techniques that assist you in evaluating ideas.

Who should attend?

Any team member that has

responsibilities for problem solving and planning.  Particularly suitable for team leaders through to senior

organisational decision makers.  These programmes can also be tailored for any role within an organisation.

Training Delivery

The delivery of our training is energetic, hands-on and pragmatic.  All of our designs allow delegates to understand any of the concepts and then practice them.  Delegates walk away with tools and techniques that they can instantly implement in the workplace.

Duration

Courses range from 1 day sessions to a 5 day programme.

Delivery Options

All of the programmes can be

completed and can be learnt through an immersed learning environment for 4½-5 days.  Alternatively the programme can be split into a 1, 2 and 1½ - 2 day programme at different times.  The courses can also

be attended as stand-alone

programmes.

Kirton Adaption-Innovation Inventory

Your organisation may also benefit from profiling staff using the Kirton Adaption-Innovation Inventory [KAI] - a thinking styles preference inventory. The styles indicate a preferred way for creating new ideas and managing change and form a continuum from adaptive through to more innovative.  The more adaptive style shows a preference for solving problems through incremental improvement within a system, whereas those who work in a more innovative way have a preference for restructuring the system. The KAI often proves insightful when understanding the types of ideas that colleagues present as a strategic way forward.

Potential Contents

Brainy offers a framework for three strategic thinking programmes.  Ideally, we recommend all are completed and in the listed sequence.

Programmes can however be tailored to include any combination of the content and can be of any desired duration.

PROGRAMME 3

Applied Productive Thinking

1 ½ or 2 days

Working through the Productive Thinking process using real information from your organisation.  If included as part of the larger programme [where the 2 day productive thinking process programme has been completed] this can be run as 1½ days.  If running this programme by itself it would need to be a 2 day programme to allow additional time for explaining the steps in the process.

All of the programmes can be completed and can be learnt through an immersed learning environment for 4½-5 days.  Alternatively the programme can be split into a 1, 2 and 1½-2 day programme at different times.  The courses can also be attended as stand-alone programmes.
